Nice to go to for a drive. Go feed the swans and ducks on the Avon River. Nice Botanical Gardens. Rheo Thompson's mint smoothies are to die for. Sometimes gas is much less expensive than the surrounding towns and cities. Great Fish and Chips at Annie's Seafood on Ontario St.
Never was a great place to find hookers though.

An SO at the time talked me into going to see Othello at the Stratford Theater years ago. The entire performance was done in the original old English dialogue. One of the longest evenings of my life. I was surrounded by retired school teacher types constantly applauding at the scenes.

You could always rent a paddle boat at some ridiculous price and paddle around in that swamp where the swans are. My kids used to love that made it all worth while. lol

The Dominion Hotel is long gone, demolition took place a few years back. Stratford at one time was was a hotbed for producing good hockey players and very good teams with a strong and loyal fan base.
The only things left are the loyal fans, Festival and some BBW. Also known to have the worst streets in Canada, unless you like pot holes and bumpy streets!

You are correct about the star hockey players , I even know a few personally . I also knew the well the company that sponsored the team .Top notch in the day !

William Allman Memorial Arena in Stratford one of the last great old hockey barns in Ontario. Even I played there as a teenager, made the trip down from Toronto in the 70's for some OHA Junior playoff against the Warriors. Great place to watch a junior game on a Friday night.

I was in Stratford today. I was so wowed by all of the eating establishments open, I chose chicken fingers and fries at Zehrs with a bottle of water and ate it in my car.
Then I went to Canadian Tire because the price of gas was about the same at Costco in Waterloo and I got 3% back in points.

I had to read MacBeth in high school. I always liked the Porter's monologue at the start of Act II. There's basically a line in there about how alcohol increases the desire but diminishes the performance. Kinda of a PG-13 line. I can't imagine MacBeth being taught before high school.

I've been to the Balzac's downtown Kitchener. Balzac's has been on Dragon's Den, too. Also, not only was I unaware of the Stratford location, it turns out that location was the first one.
